TSN. Drew Stubbs Jersey .ca presents its latest weekly power rankings for the 2013-14 Barclays Premier League season. Rankings were weighted evenly between separate lists made by TSN Radio host and soccer analyst Gareth Wheeler as well as TSN.cas soccer editors. 1. Manchester City (Last Week- The best home side in the Barclays Premier League stormed to an impressive 6-3 victory over top of the table Arsenal at Etihad Stadium.  City have now scored 35 goals in their eight home games and are the only team with a perfect record on their own ground.  Five different men, including the strike partnership of Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo found the net as City seemed to score at will.  The only downside for the winners was that Aguero limped off the field in the 50th minute and is now expected to miss a month of action. 2. Arsenal (LW- Though they still lead the Barclays Premier League, there were not a lot of positives for Arsenal as they fell 6-3 to Manchester City. The one positive that they gained in the heavy loss was a strong outing for Theo Walcott, who scored twice for the Gunners.  The league leaders will have to play without Jack Wilshere for two games after he was suspended for giving the home fans the middle finger during the contest. 3. Liverpool (LW-3) Two more goals for Luis Suarez paced an impressive 5-0 victory for Liverpool over Tottenham.  The Uruguayan striker now has 17 goals on the season to lead the league, despite having only played in 11 of his teams 16 games this season.  Jordan Henderson, John Flanagan and Raheem Sterling also found the mark for Liverpool, who are now just two points from the top of the table. 4. Chelsea (LW-4) Two first half goals were enough to lead Chelsea to a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in a strong but not dominant performance at Stamford Bridge.  Searching for scoring from their strikers, Fernando Torres found the net 16 minutes into the contest.  After giving up the equalizer, Ramires found the winner in the 35th minute and Chelsea hung on to the advantage for the rest of the game.  Petr Cech was called into action to keep the one goal lead at times in the second half and he responded to the task. 5. Everton (LW-5) Heading into the late stages at Goodison Park, it looked as though Everton was going to have to settle for a single point.  However, three goals in the final 17 minutes of the game propelled them to a 4-1 victory over Fulham.  After grabbing an early lead courtesy of a Leon Osman goal, Seamus Coleman Gareth Barry Kevin Mirallas all found the scoring touch to lead the home side to victory. 6. Manchester United (LW-9) Two goals in the opening 18 minutes, only three minutes apart, for Danny Welbeck was enough to spark a solid bounce back effort for United as they knocked off Aston Villa 3-0.  Tom Cleverley scored the other goal for United, who havent lost at Villa Park since 1995 and showed a lot of life earning a quality victory.   7. Newcastle United (LW- A Yoan Gouffran marker was not enough for Newcastle to win their fourth straight home game as they settled for a 1-1 draw against Southampton.  After a strong first half where they grabbed the lead, Newcastle struggled to get the advantage after the break and in the end gave up the tying marker.  Hatem Ben Arfa came on late and sparked the team but in the end it was a point for each team. 8. Tottenham Hotspur (LW- The end came for manager Andre Villas-Boas the morning after Spurs were thumped 5-0 by Liverpool at home.  By the time Luis Suarez made it 4-0 in the 84th minute with his second of the game, the crowd at White Hart Lane had thinned out to visiting supporters and those that stayed behind to boo the team off the field.  They would eventually get the chance to show their displeasure but not before Tottenham gave up a fifth goal. 9. Southampton (LW- Jay Rodriguez fired home in the 65th minute to earn a point for Southampton in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle.  After struggling and falling behind in the first half, the Saints came on in the second half of the game to earn themselves a point.  The introduction of Adam Lallana after the half played a big role in why the visitors were much better in the second half of this contest. 10. Swansea City (LW-10) Nathan Dyer was the entire story for Swansea in a 1-1 draw against Norwich City.  He scored their only goal in the 12th minute helping them earn a point from the contest.  Unfortunately, Dyer was forced to leave the game on a stretcher with an ankle injury before the end of the first half.  Further tests would show ligament damage and not an ankle break which is at least positive news for the midfielder. 11. Hull City (LW-1 There were no goals, but two good goalkeeping performances on hand as Hull City and Stoke City played to a 0-0 draw.  Allan McGregor picked up the clean sheet for the Tigers as Stoke managed 11 shots, two on target for their performance.  Peter Crouch was the man victimized both times as McGregor kept the score level. 12. Stoke City (LW-13) Asmir Begovic had to be on his game to earn Stoke City a point in a 0-0 draw with Hull City.  Ahmed Elmohamady and Yannick Sagbo both had good chances to crack the scoreboard for Hull but were both turned away by Begovic in the first half.  Both teams had opportunities to claim the game but in the end they would each leave with a deserved point. 13. Aston Villa (LW-1 Before 20 minutes had passed, Villa was already down two goals and they never found their way back into a game they dropped 3-0 to Manchester United.  It was all United, as striker Christian Benteke was not able to find a way to get Villa back into a game they lost very early in the first half. 14. Cardiff City (LW-15) When Peter Whittingham found the mark with a header, it turned out to be the only scoring in a 1-0 victory for Cardiff City over West Brom.  Throughout the contest, Cardiff routinely had the best of the chances as Steven Caulker was very involved creating chances but wasnt able to increase his teams one goal lead.  In the end the single goal was enough for all three points. 15. Norwich City (LW-1 Gary Hoopers 25-yard strike in first half stoppage time was enough to lead Norwich to a 1-1 draw with Swansea.  Michael Turner had a chance to put the Canaries ahead in the second half but wasnt able to find the mark as the home team earned a point. 16. West Bromwich Albion (LW-14) A fourth straight loss, this time 1-0 at the hands of Cardiff City, turned out to be one too many as manager Steve Clarke was fired by the Baggies after the game.  High expectations entering the season, after they shot up to eighth place last year, were not able to be matched by West Brom, who are now 16th in the table, two points out of the relegation zone.  Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considered to be a front runner to claim the job. 17. West Ham United (LW-1 West Ham had to hang on against bottom of the table Sunderland to take point from a 0-0 draw.  Sunderland had more of the possession and controlled the action for the most part and it was the work of West Ham keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen that kept the scores level.  Ravel Morrison was lively for the Hammers but was not able to be the difference maker in this game. 18. Crystal Palace (LW-1 Thought they didnt enjoy much of the possession in the game, Palace were in it right to end as they fell 2-1 to Chelsea.  After they fell behind in the 16th minute, Marouane Chamakh equalized 13 minutes later for the relegation threatened side.  The game was level for only six minutes before Palace was once again searching for a tying goal.   They had chances throughout the game but were never able to find the second goal to possibly escape with a point. 19. Sunderland (LW-20) Its rare that a bottom of the table team should be unhappy with a draw, but such is the case for Sunderland who were held 0-0 by West Ham.  Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley had the best chance when he hit the bar late in the first half.  Jozy Altidore also had a chance to edge the game for the Black Cats but was turned away by West Ham keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen. 20. Fulham (LW-19) Another tough result now sees Fulham second bottom on goal differential in the Barclays Premier League as they fell 4-1 to Everton.  A Dimitar Berbatov penalty in the 67th minute evened the score but three late goals conceded meant that the Cottagers fell behind Crystal Palace on differential and into 19th place in the table. Jason Kubel Jersey . Future Hall of Famer Ricky Ray is in his prime and back for a third season in double blue. The 34-year old was magnificent in 2013, throwing for just under 2,900 yards despite missing eight games, tossing an impressive 21 touchdowns against just two interceptions, completing 66 per cent of his passes in the process. Joe Mauer Jersey .J. - Pete Carroll is in support of the NFL looking further into whether medicinal marijuana could beneficial for players. . Off-Season Game Plan looks at what the Blue Jackets may do to build upon last seasons success to return to the playoffs again next year.Trouble in the Reds outfield, the Blue Jays rotation could have a new look, an interesting catcher option in Colorado and injuries to Davis, Kipnis, Cain and more. INJURIES - Reds RF Jay Bruce is facing knee surgery for a torn meniscus and it could cost him a month of playing time. Chris Heisey, who has shown some pop (43 home runs, .736 OPS in 1218 career plate appearances) takes over in right for the Reds. - The Reds are also missing LHP Tony Cingrani, who has shoulder tendinitis, but Cincinnati can get away with a four-man rotation for the time being. - A torn tendon in his right hand leaves RHP Brandon Morrow on the 60-day DL, giving J.A. Happ a chance to return to the rotation. Happ has been rocked in three relief appearances this year, so it may not be long before Marcus Stroman gets his turn. Stroman, a 2012 first-round pick, has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo, where he was 2-2 with a 1.69 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 36 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings. Stroman starts in the bullpen but figures to be next in line for a rotation opening. - With 1B Chris Davis on the DL due to a strained oblique, Steve Pearce is getting regular playing time for the Orioles. Pearce has done little (.222 AVG, .556 OPS) in 27 plate appearances this year, but since joining the Orioles in 2012, he has seven home runs, 29 RBI, a .253 average and .748 OPS in 248 plate appearances. - A strained hamstring has put White Sox CF Adam Eaton on the DL, giving Jordan Danks a shot at some regular playign time. In 300 career plate appearances, Danks is hitting .207 with a .606 OPS and a dozen stolen bases, so he hasnt clicked in the bigs yet, but had a respectable .772 OPS in four seasons (1566 plate appearances) at Triple-A. - Indians 2B Jason Kipnis is out with a strained oblique, and the Tribe has turned to 21-year-old Jose Ramirez. Ramirez doesnt have any power to speak of, but hit .308 with a .765 OPS and 75 stolen bases, in 1172 minor-league plate appearances. - Need a catcher? While Rockies C Wilin Rosario deals with a viral infection, consider Jordan Pacheco, who is the primary backup in Colorado. Pacheco had played primarily first and third base with the rockies, but, prior to this season, had seen action at catcher in 22 of 213 career games. This year, Pacheco has caught in 10 games, and is hitting .278 with a .769 OPS. He hasnt hit enough to have value as a corner infielder, but as a catcher? Thats a different story. - Tigers RHP Anibal Sanchez is on the DL due to a laceration on his finger, giving LHP Robbie Ray (3-2, 1.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 21 K, 29 1/3 IP at Triple-A) a turn in the Detroit rotation. Ray was acquired from Washhington as part of the Doug Fister trade in the offseason. Brian Dozier Jersey. . - A run-in with a kitchen knife has sent Giants RHP Matt Cain to the DL, opening up a spot in the rotation for Yusmerio Petit, the 29-year-old who has a 3.31 ERA in 73 1/3 innings with the Giants since 2012. - Angels 3B David Freese suffered a broken finger on the weekend, leaving the hot corner in the hands of Ian Stewart, the one-time top prospect who has power (hit 25 HR in 2009), but is hitting .186 with seven home runs in 396 plate appearances since the start of 2011. - Twins RHP Mike Pelfrey is sidelined with a groin problem, giving Samuel Deduno a chance to return to the starting rotation. Dedunos strikeout rate has improved, working out of the bullpen this year, though hes also giving up more base-runners than he did last season, when he was 8-8 with a 3.83 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 18 starts for the Twins. GOOD ADDS (Available in at least 40% of TSN leagues) Jhonny Peralta, SS, St. Louis - 7 HR, 15 RBI, .222 AVG, 13 R, 108 AB (Available: 48.6%) Omar Infante, 2B, Kansas City - 2 HR, 19 RBI, .282 AVG, 13 R, 110 AB (Available: 49.5%) Todd Frazier, 3B, Cincinnati - 5 HR, 18 RBI, .269 AVG, 17 R, 3 SB, 97 AB (Available: 40.6%) Chris Young, CF, N.Y. Mets - 2 HR, 9 RBI, .273 AVG, 10 R, 3 SB, 55 AB (Available: 95.8%) Juan Francisco, 1B, 3B, Toronto - 3 HR, 6 RBI, .277 AVG, 8 R, 47 AB (Available: 98.7%) Corey Kluber, RHP, Cleveland - 2-3, 3.60 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 48 K, 45 IP (Available: 82.4%) Travis Wood, LHP, Chicago Cubs - 2-3, 3.35 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 37 K, 37 2/3 IP (Available: 86.1%) Jonathon Niese, LHP, N.Y. Mets - 2-2, 2.20 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 24 K, 32 2/3 IP (Available: 77.0%) CLOSER NOTES - Sergio Santos has lost the Blue Jays closer gig after blowing back-to-back save appearances. Aaron Loup is the short-term option there, while Casey Janssen is due back from injury soon. - After being removed from the closers role, Angels RHP Ernesto Frieri may be about to reclaim the job from sidearmer Joe Smith. Frieri ha worked four perfect relief outings since he was bumped from the job. - The lonely Houston Astros closer job is being split, by Anthony Bass and Chad Qualls. As if one couldnt handle all those opportunities. - Oaklands Jim Johnson has pitched 10 1/3 IP since he was knocked out of the closers job, but that stretch has put him at the head of the committee which includes Luke Gregerson and Sean Doolittle.
